Break Even Consulting, acting as Reinvent’s Consultant, prepared a study for the modification of the electricity generation license, as well as a study investigating the raw materials available in the wider Serres area. The studies concern the construction of a biomass combustion unit for the production of 2 MW of electrical power, which is to be located within the Industrial Area of Serres.
Description
As part of the project, the Company successfully completed the study for the modification of the initial electricity generation license. In addition, Break Even Consulting prepared a study investigating the available raw materials in the wider project area.
Solution
- The wider project area was mapped in terms of potential sources of raw materials suitable for biomass utilisation (livestock units, agricultural cooperatives, industries, waste treatment units, etc.).
- Site visits were carried out by a specialised team of engineers, and samples of the proposed raw materials were collected.
- The available raw materials were collected and quantified.
- The qualitative characteristics of the available raw materials were determined in order to assess their potential for utilisation in the proposed unit.
- Raw material mixture scenarios were developed to meet the unit’s requirements, based on the available raw materials and their quality characteristics.
