Break Even Consulting has supported the Municipality of Ios with the aim of improving the quality of life of residents and visitors to the island.
The development of modern water supply networks supports the sustainability of the Municipality of Ios and, due to the island’s water supply network, the desalination unit is essential for the sustainable management of existing water resources.
The proposed works contribute to providing residents with access to sufficient, high-quality water.
Description
The water supply projects studied by the Company on behalf of the Municipality of Ios include:
Construction Works for Water Supply Reservoirs in Ios
- Three (3) new water supply reservoirs, of reinforced concrete construction and useful capacities of 1,000 m³ and 500 m³.
Associated Works for a Desalination Unit with a capacity of 360 m³/day in the Mylopotas area of Ios Island
- Intake pipeline terminating at the seawater intake point.
- Gravity brine discharge pipeline.
- New pumping station with an operating capacity of 62 m³/h and a pumping head of 65 m.
Solution
Within the framework of the project “Construction of Water Supply Reservoirs in Ios”, the proposed works are:
- Construction of a reservoir with a useful capacity of 1,000 m³, to be located near the settlement of Chora, Ios.
- Construction of a water supply reservoir with a useful capacity of 500 m³, to be located near the BIOKA wastewater treatment facility on the island.
- Construction of a 500 m³ water supply reservoir, to be located near the Chora–Manganari road.
- Associated Wastewater Treatment Unit (WWTP) for the settlement of 400 population equivalents (P.E.).
Within the framework of the project “Associated Works for a Desalination Unit with a capacity of 360 m³/day in the Mylopotas area of Ios Island”, the proposed works are:
- Intake pipeline terminating at the seawater intake point, with a total length of 1,160 m.
- Gravity brine discharge pipeline, with the required manholes, with a total length of 1,610 m.
- New pumping station with an operating capacity of 62 m³/h and a pumping head of 65 m, located within the existing pumping station at Mylopotas Beach.
