Break Even Consulting, acting as a consultant to the General Secretariat for the Natural Environment and Water of the Ministry of Environment and Energy, prepared a study on the reuse of reclaimed water from treated liquid wastewater, with the main objective of promoting the circular economy and resource efficiency.
Description
With the main aim of ensuring that the reuse of wastewater can serve as a tool for the rational management of water resources, subject to specific restrictions, the study includes the following:
- Recording and assessment of the current situation
- Preparation of specifications for the development of an integrated system for monitoring the use of treated liquid wastewater at national level
- Evaluation of methods and formulation of proposals for optimizing the implementation of reuse methods
- Promotion of reclaimed water reuse
- Adaptation of the Reuse Legal Framework
- Preparation of technical specifications for the implementation of the various reuse methods
Solution
Safe use of reclaimed water within the framework of integrated water management, ensuring the protection of the environment and public health, promoting the circular economy, contributing to climate change adaptation and helping achieve the objectives of Directive 2000/60/EC through the mitigation of water scarcity across the European Union, the reduction and alleviation of pressure on water resources.
