Description
The project concerns the investigation and assessment of environmental and social parameters related to environmental management at the National Park. Its purpose is to collect and evaluate quantitative and qualitative data from various social groups operating within the area of the Lake Kerkini National Park, approaching the key issues concerning the environmental management of the specific ecosystem and exploring matters related to the management of the National Park.
Solution
As part of the project, with the aim of mapping the social context regarding environmental management at the National Park, 45 targeted interviews were conducted with representatives of all social groups from the settlements around Lake Kerkini, in order to identify their views on the environmental status of the National Park. In addition, important information was collected from 151 completed questionnaires.
The processing and evaluation of the collected information contributed to recording and analyzing the following:
- Conditions prevailing within the ecosystem
- Actions implemented for the protection of biodiversity
- Environmental degradation caused by anthropogenic and natural factors
- Impact of climate change on the National Park ecosystem
