Break Even Consulting, in collaboration with the Institute for Circular Economy and Climate Change of EPLO, has supported the Municipality of Eastern Samos through the preparation of the Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan (SECAP), as part of its participation in the Covenant of Mayors, as well as by strengthening its transition toward a climate-neutral and resilient model, applying the principles of the circular economy.
Description
Through the preparation of the SECAP, the Company has successfully completed the following:
- Assessment of the existing situation with regard to the geographical, demographic, economic and climate characteristics specific to the Municipality
- Development of an appropriate strategy for the sustainable and green development of the Municipality
- Recording of energy consumption resulting from each sector of activity within the administrative boundaries of the Municipality
- Calculation of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions
- Development of proposals, measures and actions to reduce emissions by 2030
- Assessment of the Municipality’s vulnerability to climate change.
Solution
The Action Plan prepared for the Municipality of Eastern Samos presents all the actions and measures that can be undertaken to significantly reduce its emissions by 2030.
With the aim of formulating an appropriate strategy and vision for the Municipality toward sustainable and green development, through the SECAP it is proposed that the Municipality of Eastern Samos undertake a series of actions to reduce emissions from municipal buildings, facilities, fleet management, municipal lighting, transportation, the residential sector, the tertiary sector and the local energy production sector.
