Break Even Consulting, in collaboration with the Institute of Circular Economy and Climate Change of EPLO, has supported the Municipality of Karditsa in the preparation of the Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan (SECAP), within the framework of its participation in the Covenant of Mayors, as well as in strengthening its transition towards a climate-neutral and resilient city by applying the principles of the circular economy.
Description
Through the preparation of the SECAP, the Company has successfully completed the following:
- Assessment of the existing situation with regard to the geographical, demographic, economic and climate characteristics specific to the Municipality
- Development of an appropriate strategy for the sustainable and green development of the Municipality
- Recording of energy consumption resulting from each sector of activity within the administrative boundaries of the Municipality
- Calculation of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions
- Development of proposals, measures and actions to reduce emissions by 2030
- Assessment of the Municipality’s vulnerability to climate change.
Solution
The Action Plan prepared for the Municipality of Karditsa presents all the actions and measures that the Municipality can undertake in order to achieve its emission reduction targets by 2030.
With the aim of developing an appropriate strategy and vision for a sustainable and green development model, the Municipality of Karditsa’s SECAP presents a series of mitigation measures concerning municipal buildings, municipal facilities, municipal lighting, transport, the residential sector, the tertiary sector and the energy production sector.
