The MERP records and analyses the Municipality’s carbon footprint, while also defining targeted measures and actions to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The proposed actions ensure the Municipality’s compliance with its climate obligations, contributing to the national goal of achieving climate neutrality by 2050.

The carbon footprint calculation process follows the principles of ISO 14064-1:2018, taking into account all activities under the Municipality’s operational or administrative control. These data guide the analysis and the design of targeted measures.

The MERP includes specific emission reduction targets for 2025, as well as plans for 2030. At the same time, it lays the groundwork for the utilisation of

financial tools and energy efficiency programmes that can support the implementation of the proposed actions.
