Break Even Consulting prepared the Sustainability and Sustainable Development Study for the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), which was presented at the “1st Annual Sustainability & Strategy Day of NKUA” and incorporated into the University’s Strategic Plan (2023–2027). As part of the preparation of the Sustainability and Sustainable Development Study, the institution’s current situation in relation to sustainability was assessed, highlighting the Sustainable Development Goals that are prioritised. International best practices for strengthening the institution’s sustainability across seven sustainability pillars were also explored. |
Description
The Sustainability and Sustainable Development Study includes the following:
- An assessment of the current situation regarding the sustainability practices already implemented at NKUA, in order to identify the University’s performance across all aspects of its operations. In particular, the environmental and social dimensions of sustainability were examined, assessing infrastructure actions in the following categories: infrastructure, academic and research activities, partnerships, conferences, human resources, quality education, equality of genders and innovation through funding programmes.
- Development of proposals aimed at strengthening the University’s individual actions, examining sustainability and sustainability as a whole, covering seven dimensions of sustainability. In particular, the proposals concern environmental protection, social responsibility, economic sustainability, institutional governance, the integration of sustainability into the academic curriculum, the political culture of sustainability and innovation through technological applications, with the aim of creating an academic environment that will contribute to addressing global challenges of the present and the future.
