Mr. Evangelos Sioukas, Managing Partner of Break Even Consulting, participated in the Attica Green Expo panel on innovation in Local Government. The panel also included the Minister of Development and Investment, Mr. Spyridon-Adonis Georgiadis; Mr. Venetis Greece; Mr. Theodorikakos; the company’s Managing Director, Mr. Robertos; Mr. Mourikis; and the Managing Director of PCN Materials, Mr. Kyriazidis. The panel was moderated by Ms. Patapia Papadopoulou from Star Channel.
During the panel, emphasis was placed on the development of new tools and mechanisms for Local Authorities, as well as on bridging the gap that currently exists between these bodies in terms of entrepreneurship and innovation.
During his speech, Mr. Sioukas highlighted the importance of modernizing and strengthening cooperation among participating organizations, so that ideas generated by universities, businesses, or even startups can be utilized and implemented in local communities. He also emphasized the need to increase the allocation of funds to the fields of entrepreneurship and innovation.
In addition, Mr. Sioukas presented three pilot programs during the panel. The first concerns ten municipalities in Eastern Attica, which will be supported through innovative ideas aimed at addressing climate change. The second concerns a program that will be linked to supporting innovation in existing businesses within the Municipality of Piraeus cluster. Finally, the third program concerns the Peloponnese and will directly connect the region’s universities, addressing real-world problems with the support of the universities.
In closing, he noted that in Greece, only one in ten businesses manages to identify and declare its problems and concerns, while in Germany, three out of five people can translate them into skills.
